Walter McBrine:  background

With his company, GWD Contracting Ltd, Walter has been a building contractor in Ucluelet since 1972. Since 1984 he has worked as project superintendant on the construction of several Vancouver Island resorts, including the Canadian Princess in Ucluelet, Painter’s Lodge in Campbell River, and the reconstruction of Oak Bay Marina in Victoria. Before coming to Ucluelet, Walter built homes in Port Alberni and kitchens in Powell River.

When Walter isn’t busy contracting he builds cabinets in his shop, and oversees the Long Beach Golf Course as its president.

Walter’s son Dave is a foreman on the McBrine & Stade crew, and his grandsons also help out on the jobsites.
