Peter Stade:  background

As the owner of Sound Design and Building Ltd. since 1990, Peter has earned a reputation for quality workmanship and attention to detail. He focuses on residential design and construction featuring his own interpretation of a timber-accented “west-coast” architectural style. Projects include the 4 1/2 star Snug Harbour Inn and the award-winning Tilitzky/Syme residence in Tofino and Williams residence in Ucluelet.

Before moving to Vancouver Island Peter worked as a building and renovation contractor in the West Kootenays. He has also been a shipwright, a draftsman, and worked in commercial and industrial construction.

In 1983 Peter moved to Ucluelet, and worked for Walter McBrine. Projects included the Canadian Princess Resort and Painter’s Lodge. Now, twenty-four years later McBrine and Stade have come full circle and are working together again.

Peter’s wife Anne Novak is an artist, whose work can be seen on her website, www.annenovakart.com, and their son Eric is a notorious free-ride mountain biker and carpenter on the McBrine & Stade crew.
